Raw Processing of Pentax K5 images part 2

I am continuing to processs my RAW files from my recent trip. One of the most amazing aspects of this camera is the dynami range of the image data that is recoverabel using the raw process.

I shot a lot of Kecek dance shots using the built in flash and the FA77mm lens. Some of the pictures were quite dark. I was able to adjust the exposure by 1 stop and then adjust the levels, to reveal more shadow information and to increase the overall brightness of the image with barely any increase in noise. The original image had no visible sunset and was much darker.

This picture was taken handheld@1/125s at F5.6, ISO800

About petergsimmons

Global citizenship is conferred on those who have lived in a variety of countries, and who don’t identify with any one culture. I am such a person. Having lived in Jamaica, Canada and Japan, I have been exposed to First World/Third World, East and West, North and South. This has lead to a rich living experience, open-mindedness and curiosity about the world around me. This variety of living conditions in human landscapes is coupled with equally diverse travels in natural landscapes from the jungles of South East Asia and South America to the Arctic tundra; tropical beaches to the Himalayas, resulting in an incredible journey through life itself.
