Floriade 2012, Venlo Netherlands

Floriade is the Netherlands largest flower show held every 10 years. Marg had been to the one held in 1982 in Amsterdam on her last visit to Holland.

The show was a floral expo with pavilions from different countries, which showcased their culture and horticultural traditions. Although the weather was not that great with intermittent showers, there was enough to see inside and outside the various pavilions to keep us occupied for 6 hours.

We stayed the night in the town, which was rather sleepy. We had a very good meal in a local pub. Unfortunately the hotel bar was below our room, which made for a noisy night.

About petergsimmons

Global citizenship is conferred on those who have lived in a variety of countries, and who don’t identify with any one culture. I am such a person. Having lived in Jamaica, Canada and Japan, I have been exposed to First World/Third World, East and West, North and South. This has lead to a rich living experience, open-mindedness and curiosity about the world around me. This variety of living conditions in human landscapes is coupled with equally diverse travels in natural landscapes from the jungles of South East Asia and South America to the Arctic tundra; tropical beaches to the Himalayas, resulting in an incredible journey through life itself.
