Travelling to the US for business has always been challenging from a data roaming point of view. I recently signed up with Roam Mobility for their data package for my iPad. Roam Mobility resells T Mobile service to Canadians. There is a $20 charge for the microsim card, and then for the iPad, $30 gets you 500 MB. As the iPad is not compatible with T Mobile’s frequencies you are restricted to 2G service. However, I found that this was sufficient for email and loading Google Maps. The two weeks I travelled in the US resulted in about 150MB of usage, and no surprising roaming charges as I had prepaid of $30 for the 500 MB of data. I am pretty happy with this and will continue to use service when travelling to the US. More information can be found on their website – http://www.roammobility.com

Thanks for the great review Peter. We’re always glad to read a happy review from our customers. Our network is being upgraded this year so that your iPad will get 4G data speeds across the US. The upgrade is scheduled to complete by the end of 2012.
